Unit Weekly News for 21 - 27 November

Snap Raise: Thanks to your support, our cadets have raised a record setting $18,666! Over $6K of that will help fund individual cadets for their April CIA trip to the National Museum of the Air Force. These funds make possible our Teams, competitions, community service, events and activities for the rest of the year and into AY 2023. We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you so much for your overwhelming support. The campaign ends tomorrow.

27-30 April Curriculum In Action (CIA) Trip to WPAFB: The second $100 payment toward each individual $555 total trip cost is due now. If you haven’t paid, please send in a check made payable to ARHS AFJROTC Booster Club with your son or daughter next week. All 48 seats have been reserved and we have started a Standby list in case someone drops out. If your son or daughter hasn’t signed up, there’s still a chance through the standby list. This will be a great trip – we’re visiting the amazing Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB, King’s Island Amusement Park and we’re waiting on an approval decision for a C-130J familiarization ride hosted by the Kentucky Air National Guard.

Fort Dorchester Patriot Challenge Meet 2022: Congratulations to our Drill, Raider, Academic and Aero teams for their performance against 7 other JROTC units this past Saturday at Fort Dorchester High School. Competition was very strong with teams from as far as Spring Valley High School. Ashley Ridge placed 3d Overall – an outstanding accomplishment and strong showing.

Our Aeronautical Team place 1st in the Aero category with a 1st place Drone and 2d place Rocketry finish.

Raiders placed 3d in the Litter Carry Event.

Our Drill Team placed 3d Overall in the Drill category with 2d place in Duet Exhibition with Arms and 3d place finishes in Regulation Squad Armed, Color Guard, Individual Exhibition with Arms, Squad Exhibition with Arms, Squad Exhibition without Arms and Cadet Joseph Debney finished 3d in the individual knockout against over 250 cadets.

Upcoming Events – Parents needed: We need 2 more parent volunteers to help chaperone at the Kiawah Marathon community service event on 12/10 (showtime 5am)– if interested, please shoot me an email. Please saved the date for Jan 28th, 2023 – we will need as many parent volunteers as we can get to help with parking and food sales for our Fierce Fox Meet where we host 800-1000 cadets to compete at Ashley Ridge High School (more details coming out next month).

From MSgt Powell, MSgt Blake and myself, we hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Col W
